The Department of Justice this week confirmed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and FBI personnel would not participate in poll-monitoring operations during the midterm elections.

Speculation had abounded that ICE and other immigration-related agencies could involve themselves amid the Trump administration's crackdown on voter fraud, but a DOJ filing confirmed that they would not participate.

Instead, personnel from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Bureau ‌of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will participate in poll monitoring, according to The Hill.

Poll monitoring is a regular practice in each election cycle that sees federal personnel oversee a limited number of sites to watch for improprieties.
